For most people, the Costa del Sol is all about sun-kissed shores and Mediterranean breezes. With no less than 80 tonnes of jellyfish scooped out of western Costa del Sol waters last summer, Marbella’s beach authorities are making sure these slippery stingers don’t spoil the fun this year: nets and floats are being installed, especially in floating play-park areas, so that everyone can enjoy trouble-free swimming in a safe environment.

A rough winter and serious storm erosion have left many beaches with a lack of sand, but Marbella’s investment in tourism remains strong with a drive to clean up and replace the lost sand, in readiness for summer.
