Living it up at your Marbella beach property

For most people, the Costa del Sol is all about sun-kissed shores and Mediterranean breezes. Marbella’s beach lifestyle, which prominently features up-market beach clubs, elegant chiringuito bars and millionaires’ marinas, has long attracted an international jet set looking for exclusivity, glitz and glamour. Then there’s the smell of fresh, salty air; glorious sunrises, sunsets and, of course, time to find inspiration as you gaze at the horizon, toes digging into the sand.

Marbella boasts ten Blue Flag beaches, reflecting the city’s commitment to high standards when it comes to sustainable development, safety and services, as well as the coastal environment and water quality in general. The result: some of the most pristine and well-served beaches in the entire province of Málaga.

But keeping up these standards is an on-going task, particularly with summer well on its way. With no less than 80 tonnes of jellyfish scooped out of western Costa del Sol waters last summer, Marbella’s beach authorities are making sure these slippery stingers don’t spoil the fun this year: nets and floats are being installed, especially in floating play-park areas, so that everyone can enjoy trouble-free swimming in a safe environment.

A rough winter and serious storm erosion have left many beaches with a lack of sand, but Marbella’s investment in tourism remains strong with a drive to clean up and replace the lost sand, in readiness for summer.
